Amazon’s Genius Kindle Print Advertising Campaign

My hat is off to the marketing brains over at Amazon. Nearing the grand conclusion of a riveting article in Forbes magazine, I was dismayed to find that the final paragraphs of the article were missing. Missing! A print error? Surely this couldn't be.

I looked to the next page. Nothing but a full-page ad for the Amazon Kindle. I flipped pages. The beginning of an entirely new article. Finally, I returned to where the article suddenly trailed off.

It was there that I spotted in "Continued on Kindle" in tiny italic letters along with an unassuming line that, when followed, led my eyes right to the kindle. It was there -- on Amazon Kindle's pictured e-ink display -- that I discovered the final paragraphs of my article.

Not only did I undoubtedly pay close attention to the Amazon Kindle ad, but I am even writing about. Congratulations Amazon marketing team, mission accomplished.

"Why use a maxipad when there's the new iPad from Apple"

Apple Tablet? Apple Reader? iTablet?  iReader? Nope. The boys in Cupertino decided they would call their "magical" tablet the iPad.  While the iPad is undoubtedly the first shot in a revolution of tablet computing devices, its very name has attracted no shortage of ridicule.  The web is crawling with its fair share of iPad jokes, and the phrase "iPad jokes" has even risen to become a top searched term on Google.  Alas, the best part of Apple's naming mishap is not the jokes that have arisen since Apple CEO Steve Jobs took the stage with the usual fanfare surrounding the launch of the new product, but the iPad...jokes that hit national airwaves well before the iPad was actually a real, live product.

The hilarious iPad spoof found in our video embed above came out well before the iPad was ever officially announced. Guess Apple should have done their homework....
